The inspiration behind Mr. John Weatherall III. Weatherall’ | Entertainment/Lifestyle

Young Hub City also strives to capture the joy and flavor of southwestern Louisiana in their music, Joseph said.

After the success of past carnival song “Throw Me Something Mr.” and “Mardi Gras Roll Call,” Joseph was discussing ideas for a new Mardi Gras song with his manager and father, Johann “Yogi” Joseph, and producer Sully “DJ Sal” Gondron, when DJ Sal came up with an idea for a song featuring Weatherall as a center.

Immediately, he said, he felt better.

Brother Joseph says all of Young Hub City’s music is free of profanity and explicit lyrics, so people of all ages can enjoy it. It’s community-oriented fun, they say, and it’s all in line with Weatherall’s values.

Yogi Joseph said that while most people have the skills to make video, not everyone can do it like Weatherall.

He praised the 31-year-old’s talent for capturing scenes that immerse you in moments of joy. The videos, he said, provide relief both from the stresses of everyday life and from larger issues facing society over the past few years, especially the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In a 30-second segment, he can take your attention away from everything that’s going on and focus on that pleasure for 30 seconds. Sometimes those 30 seconds can change a person’s day, week, life. A person’s entire life. Just take a deep breath and smile for those 30 seconds,” says Yogi Joseph.

“I told John, you’re the ‘laugh’ in everyone’s life. You’re the ‘Louisiana shot’ because you represent everything we represent in this state. It’s a big mixed pot and gumbo, You caught it,” Joseph said.

Once the idea for the song took shape, things came together quickly, the father and son said. DJ Sal created the beats, Jrok and Beezy sang songs, and artist Big Zoe made a guest appearance. Yogi Joseph said everything was done in about a week.

The song spawned a TikTok dance by Weatherall friend and former Northside High School classmate Chantell Zenon, and the Josephs see daily videos of women playing the song in spinning classes and kids dancing together.
