Major Khaled Muhammad Al Aziz, Director of Public Relations, Ministry of Transport, Al Ain stressed the importance of parents educating their children to avoid uncivilized and bad behaviour, including walking while the bus is moving, as well as disturbing and confusing drivers, which can lead to inattention and inconvenience. cause a crash.
The official made the comments during a recent speech held by Abu Dhabi Police to educate community members from Arab and Asian communities and clubs, in line with a national campaign under the slogan “Student Traffic Safety”.
School bus regulations prohibit students from talking to the bus driver, require them to follow the directions of the driver and supervisor at all times, and prohibit them from sticking their hands or heads out of the bus windows.
Emirates Schools last month called on parents to work with administration and transport companies to ensure their children follow safety and security rules when riding the bus, including: wear seat belts, don’t walk while the bus is moving, don’t stand on the seat , avoid yelling or making disruptive noises, keep the bus and its interior clean, do not tamper with the contents of the bus, and be respectful of the bus driver.
School administrators also stressed that families need to make sure someone is waiting to pick up their children – especially in Cycle 1, when the bus takes them home after school.
During the lecture, Al Azizi also appealed to families to ensure that children get off safely at the school gate to avoid accidents.
Parents have also been warned to take care not to put children under the age of 10 in the front car seat when taking their children to and from school.
Families have been urged to help their children cross the road at school and to use school-designated parking spaces so as not to obstruct traffic.
Police are also asking parents to tell their children the correct way to get on and off the bus and warn them not to play on the street while they wait for the bus.
Finally, the Police Force reminds all motorists to drive safely and pay attention when passing through the school zone, slow down near the school, and cooperate with the Traffic Patrol to strengthen traffic flow to avoid accidents.
