The UAE strongly condemns the attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israel’s Minister of State Security, Itamar Benqwir, under the protection of Israeli police.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) reiterated the UAE’s firm position on the need to provide full protection for the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to stop serious and provocative violations there.

The ministry stressed the need to respect the supervisory role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites in accordance with international law and the current historical context, and not to compromise the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Authority, which manages al-Aqsa affairs for mosques.

The ministry called on the Israeli authorities to stop escalation and avoid exacerbating tension and instability in the region, affirming that the UAE rejects all practices that violate resolutions of international legitimacy and threaten further escalation.

In addition, the ministry stressed the need to support all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, end the illegal practices that threaten the two-state solution, and establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
