Abu Dhabi Police warned motorists to avoid parking their vehicles in the middle of the road, disrupting traffic and posing a danger to other road users.

Police have shared a video on their social media platforms that reveals the dangers of parking in the middle of a busy road.

Video shows a van driving down a busy highway with the wheel wells appearing to come off the vehicle, prompting the driver to pull over in the middle of the road.

A car can be seen pulling up behind the van, while in another scene, a car behind the van doesn’t stop in time and crashes into the van. Numerous oncoming vehicles attempted to swerve as they tried to avoid collisions with the van.

Police released the video as part of the “Your Comment” scheme, which aims to make roads safer.

Traffic authorities have earlier reminded motorists to move to the nearest exit, or at least the shoulder, when making an emergency stop.

The penalty for non-compliance is a Dh1,000 fine and six traffic demerit points.
