A construction worker injured on the job was awarded Dh50,000 in compensation.

The Al Ain appeals court upheld an earlier trial court ruling ordering the physique firm to pay the Asian man compensation for the physical and material damage he suffered as a result of the incident.

Official court documents say the worker has filed a civil suit against the company seeking Dh100,000 in damages.

The man was working at a construction site in Al Ain when he accidentally fell from a height and hit the ground.

He suffered multiple injuries, was unable to function normally and had to walk with the aid of crutches.

The worker also had difficulty running and sitting normally due to the injury.

The Crown Court of First Instance earlier ruled that the construction company was negligent in failing to provide the necessary safety requirements to its workers.

The Asian man then filed a civil lawsuit against the company, seeking damages.

The construction company will pay the worker’s legal fees.
