More than 4,350 low-income Emirati families, including 29,369 individuals, have benefited from the Abu Dhabi social support programme. The objective of the program is to improve the living conditions of low-income Emirati families in the capital by providing economic and employment support.

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority said the families had registered and their requests were vetted through an online system of 27 government entities.

Each application is assessed against standardized criteria and criteria on a case-by-case basis for each household, most notably, the ‘Approved Support Threshold’ is based on a study of average household income and expenditure in Abu Dhabi.

Authorities said family support payments are calculated based on the number of family members and are calculated based on each person’s distribution. The head of household gets Dh7,455 per month, while each family member aged 14 and above gets Dh3,725. Children under 14 are allotted Dh2,235 each.

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Program is part of the government’s accelerated program Ghadan 21 and falls under the Community Development category.

In addition to financial support and partnerships with various government entities, the program seeks to empower individuals who are able to work by helping them secure jobs that suit their potential and skills. Beneficiaries of such support are selected on the basis of criteria such as age and health status.

Qassim Al Hashemi, Executive Director, Beneficiary Affairs Department, Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, said: “The benefits that families receive from social support are a temporary financial benefit until family members are empowered. principles of helping and providing financial support to families most in need.”

According to officials, while reviewing applications for the Abu Dhabi social support scheme, the calculation of total household income takes into account the fixed income, wealth and social benefits received by each family member.

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Program is one of many services offered by the emirate of Abu Dhabi to provide adequate housing and free medical care to the public and private sectors; as well as subsidized food and other essential services.
