UAE selects coding ambassadors to promote digital drive

[ad_1]

UAE chose 56 coding Ambassadors help support the country’s digital drive.

The enterprising 23 are Emiratis from all seven emirates.

They will be at the heart of the vision National Coder Programlaunched in June 2021 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

As part of the plan, the UAE signed an agreement with a number of tech giants including Google and Amazon to train 100,000 young people in computer programming over five years.

Sheikh Mohammed wants the tech-savvy workforce to create 1,000 digital companies to boost the UAE economy and increase government support for start-ups from AED1.5 billion ($410 million) to AED4 billion.

The program will also grant golden visa 100,000 of the world’s best programmers.

Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the urgent need for future generations to use technology to lead the country into the future.

These ambassadors will help promote the importance of digital literacy to government and private sector leaders, employees, and students in universities and schools.

The team will coordinate in-person and online monthly meetings and organize workshops aimed at sharing the concept of coding and how it can be an economic driver for years to come.

They will also host a conference for those interested in becoming a part of the computer programming industry.

After an extensive interview and evaluation process, the National Coder Program identified three different levels of ambassador programs.

Silver Tier has 16 ambassadors, made up of students and recent graduates with coding skills; Gold Tier has 33 ambassadors who are digital leaders; Platinum has seven ambassadors who are coding experts, government and private agencies leaders and employees.

Ambassadors will work in different teams to increase competitiveness and reward the best performers across a range of tasks through a points system, such as holding conferences, workshops and hackathons.

The ambassadors were selected ahead of UAE Code Day on 29 October.

Sheikh Mohammed announced last year that October 29 will be an annual celebration of coders and programmers and the role these professionals are playing in advancing the information technology sector in the UAE.

Last October, the capital opened an innovative coding school with no teachers or classrooms, with 225 students, 40 percent of whom are women.

Inauguration of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office 42 Abu Dhabi On Mina Zayed’s purpose-built campus.

Sheikh Khalid said 42 Abu Dhabi represented a new milestone in the UAE leadership’s strategy today to develop tomorrow’s leaders.
