The program is designed to help youth meet the local and regional needs of accessibility practitioners
This summer, students at Zayed University (ZU) were trained to become peer educators and facilitators on topics related to inclusion, accessibility and technology for people of determination.
ZU said on Monday that it recently launched the UAE Inclusive Youth Network, which successfully educated and trained the 41 students.
The Youth Network, initiated by Zayed University Student Accessibility Services, recently organized a workshop. The aim is to connect with students and increase their awareness of other community members through interactive methods and youth-friendly activities.
Professor Clayton MacKenzie, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Zayed University, said: “We are delighted to see our students giving back to the community through initiatives like this managed by local Emirati philanthropists and sponsors. Our students will be well-qualified to Raise the importance of inclusion in the community for people of determination.”
The initiative aims to attract students aged between (15 to 30 years) from schools, universities, youth centres, as well as unregistered determined people from the same age group.
The initiative will also provide youth with tools and accessible technology to meet the growing needs of accessibility practitioners.
