Residents of the UAE may experience light to moderate rain on Tuesday, with no further drop in temperature.
The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is forecasting partly cloudy days only for some parts of the country.
This could provide some relief from the scorching summer temperatures witnessed last week.
On Monday, NCM’s Dr Ahmed Habib told the Khaleej Times: “Temperatures are not going to drop. There may be convective clouds out there and light to moderate rain is expected only in certain areas. On Tuesday, we have a chance of light rain, especially in the country’s South and east. But we won’t witness any temperature change. Seas associated with convective clouds will be light to moderate and rough at times. Rain is possible in various emirates including Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, But then the chances are slim.”
Earlier in the week, on Monday morning, the Meteorological Department reported light rain over Al Bateen Airport, Al Hudrariyat Island and Al Muroor.
Meanwhile, torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning over Mirfa and Al Sila in the Al Dhafrah area.
The NCM has issued yellow and orange alerts for some areas, warning the public of the dangerous situation and advising them to take precautions when going out.
Last week, temperatures soared and then dropped.
Temperatures of around 45C were recorded for the week starting May 14, but the country has since cooled.
The temperature dropped by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius for a few days.
However, meteorological department officials have said that the temperature will rise again by about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Dr Habib explained earlier: “The change in temperature is a result of the source of the wind and the direction of the wind. If we are influenced by a northwest wind, then the temperature will be lower. But if we are influenced by a southwest or southeast wind, The temperature will rise.”
