UAE’s ILT20 kicks off with Abu Dhabi Knights vs Dubai Capitals on January 13

ILT20’s inaugural edition in the UAE kicks off on January 13 with Dubai Capitals taking on Abu Dhabi Knights, with the final scheduled for February 12.

There will be 34 games in total – 30 in the league stage followed by four playoffs – with the Dubai International Stadium hosting the tournament opener and final. A total of 16 matches will be played in Dubai, with Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium hosting 10 and Sharjah International Stadium hosting eight. The doubleheader has been scheduled for five days, all weekend.

The six-team game will feature all teams [Desert Vipers, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates and Sharjah Warriors are the other teams] Play twice against the others, and the top four make it to the playoffs. After that, there will be one knockout and two qualifiers – just like in the IPL – to determine the two finalists. Contracts for the league’s top players are expected to be around $450,000 per season, making it the second largest T20 league after the IPL.
