UK-based software development firm Godel Technologies aims to acquire new clients and hire more staff when UAE joins NextGenFDI programme – a new government initiative Support digital business.

under initiativewhich will relocate its regional headquarters to the Dubai International Financial Centre, joining nearly 600 other digital businesses, the economy ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Goldel also plans to create 250 new jobs within two years.

“UAE continues efforts to attract foreign direct investment [foreign direct investment]innovative minds and talents,” said Dr. Sani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

“Attracting global leaders like Godel Technologies to invest and expand in the country’s market reflects the huge potential of the program since its launch last July,” said Dr. Al Zeyoudi.

The UAE, the second-largest economy in the Arab world, is taking various measures to attract more foreign direct investment into the country.

Its NextGenFDI program offers digital companies a variety of incentives, including faster business setup processes, bank preparation, simpler visa procedures, and attractive commercial and residential real estate options.

It complements other programs such as the National Coder Program which provides golden visas for 100,000 coders.

Founded in 2002, Godel currently employs over 1,800 people in offices in the UK, Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Georgia and Ukraine. It focuses on areas such as software engineering, quality assurance, automation, data engineering, agile consulting, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile solutions.

“The opportunity to be part of the NextGenFDI program will give Godel Technologies a foundation of market access,” said Neil McMurdo, CEO of Godel.

“This plan will support our ambitious plan to grow our workforce to 250 over the next two years, and we look forward to establishing the Godel brand in the heart of one of the UAE’s leading financial hubs.”

Godel currently serves various industries including e-commerce, finance, energy, automotive, travel, manufacturing and retail.

It has become the second company to join the NextGenFDI program. Krush Brands, a full-stack food technology company, was the first to join the program.

Launched by the UAE government last month with seven strategic partners, NextGenFDI targets around 300 digital companies and aims to attract skilled programmers, data scientists and technical engineers over the next three years.

According to the World Investment Report 2022 published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) in June, the UAE ranks first in the Arab world in terms of foreign direct investment inflows and 19th globally.

The country attracted $20.7 billion worth of foreign direct investment last year, up 4 percent from 2020.
