Umex During a press conference at the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (Umex) and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTex), top officials from the Tawazun Council, the UAE’s defence and security acquisitions authority for the Ministry of Defence, announced significant achievements in the realm of defence contracts. Local companies, prominently led by Abu Dhabi’s Edge Group, successfully secured major contracts totaling Dh939 million.
Contract Highlights at Umex and SimTex
Tawazun Council’s spokesperson, Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi, and chief of corporate communication, Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, unveiled the signing of five notable deals during the event. They underscored that a total of 10 contracts, amounting to Dh1.9 billion, had been awarded on behalf of the ministry in the initial two days of the exhibitions.
Edge Group’s Victories
On the second day, the Edge Group emerged victorious, clinching a Dh220 million contract for the procurement of drone systems, coupled with the provision of technical support and training services. Additionally, they secured a Dh708 million deal for the acquisition of defence systems, particularly anti-drone guns.
Other Strategic Contracts
The Council also concluded three additional contracts, demonstrating the diverse scope of the awarded projects. These included an Dh8 million deal with Gulf United Integrated Multitech Solutions for the procurement of robots, a Dh2 million contract with Star Ling Spatial Communications for communication bands, and a Dh639,000 agreement with the National Center of Meteorology.
