Leading sustainable urban developer URB has launched its new 93km urban highway – THE Loop in Dubai.
A statement from URB said The Loop plans to connect more than 3 million residents by walking and cycling to key services and locations within minutes through healthy modes of transportation.
It will provide a pleasant year-round climate-controlled environment, making walking and cycling the main modes of transportation for Dubai residents, in line with its new 20-minute city initiative.
The project also aims to develop the world’s smartest cycling and running infrastructure, it added.
The goal is to make cycling and walking the primary modes of transport for more than 80 percent of Dubai residents’ daily commutes by 2040.
Unveiling the new concept, CEO Baharash Bagherian said: “The Loop offers a fantastic opportunity to foster entrepreneurial spirit in urban mobility, and Dubai is the best place to be. This is the future of urban mobility infrastructure, it’s not just sustainable transport system”
