The Wagner Group and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin declared their rebellion against Russia, vowed to overthrow the military government, and asked Russia to unite against the military regime. Prigozhin also announced that his 25,000-man army would march on Moscow, destroying everything in between. Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the Wagner Group and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin of an armed uprising and ordered his arrest. Prigozhin was also accused of treason. However, shortly after the Russian president declared that he was going after the traitors and that it was nothing more than a betrayal, Wagner and his troops withdrew, saying that the move was not aimed at the government but just in protest, and they retreated to Russia. Avoid Russian bloodshed. Putin replied that the rebels wanted to see Russia plunged into a bloody civil war and that they would be stopped anyway. Putin also lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Western allies for sparking the uprising. Prigozhin is currently expelled from Russia, but his whereabouts are unknown.
