harrij times brought a snapshot of a long tradition that is still popular today.

Firing cannons during Ramadan has been a custom in the UAE since the early 1960s.One shot every day announces the end of fasting and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, and two shots each day marks the beginning of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr

Here, we list seven places that exemplify this tradition:

1. Burj Khalifa Park

The Iftar cannon has been a tradition even before the establishment of the UAE.

2. Uptown Mirdif

It was also held in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.

3. Festival City

The Ramadan Cannon has a sound range of 170 decibels and can be heard up to 10 kilometers away.
