WATCH | Shocking new Partygate video ‘reveals’ Tories mocking lockdown rules

Previously unseen footage has surfaced revealing the extent of rule-breaking and mocking of lockdown rules at a Christmas party at the Conservative Party campaign headquarters in London, Mirror Media reported. The footage captured officials reveling, joking about flouting lockdown rules. Shockingly, two of the 24 attendees were included in former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s controversial resignation honor list. The Metropolitan Police Service is “considering” the new party door footage, according to local media.

ignoring lockdown measures

In footage from The Mirror, officials can be seen dancing and joking near a sign to keep their distance. The rave took place on December 14, 2020, when most of the UK was restricted to indoor socializing.

The video has shed new light on the incident, reigniting criticism of Boris Johnson’s handling of the pandemic and fueling anger among families who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.

Investigations and Political Fallout

Last year, a widely circulated photo of a party sparked an investigation by Scotland Yard. However, with only still images available, authorities found insufficient evidence to take legal action. The swearing video has prompted the Metropolitan Police to reassess the possibility of reopening the investigation.

Labor deputy leader Angela Rayner condemned the behavior of revelers and criticized the discrepancy between the rules followed by politicians and those facing the public.

The party was organized by the campaign team of then London mayoral candidate Sean Bailey. Bailey was recently made a lord as part of Boris Johnson’s resignation honors.

Video shows Ben Mallet receiving an OBE in the same honors list and serving as campaign director for the Conservative Party’s London mayoral election.

Video taken during the event shows Mallet holding a wine glass as the iconic song “New York Fairytale” plays in the background. In the footage, a man exclaims, “Oh my gosh,” realizing he’s being recorded, before someone asks, “Are you filming this?”

Another replied, “It’s for parties, uh, parties.” Another commented, “As long as we don’t stream, it’s like we’re breaking the rules.” All the Conservatives at the party The identity and source of the leaked footage remains unclear. It is unclear exactly who attended the gathering or who made the video public.

Mallet is currently managing the campaign for next year’s potential mayoral candidate, Moz Hossain.

mocking rules

The video captured attendees knocking over wine glasses, dancing despite social distancing, and openly joking about breaking the rules. It comes shortly after a UK parliamentary committee released a condemning report accusing Boris Johnson of repeatedly misleading MPs about rallies in breach of lockdown rules.

The emergence of such evidence has increased scrutiny of the behavior of politicians and their adherence to the rules in times of national crisis.
