Women’s Singles Prediction Belinda Bencic vs Marta Kostyuk, Jelena Ostapenko vs Zheng Qinwen

Day 3 of the 2023 Abu Dhabi Open will take place on Wednesday with four singles matches at the International Tennis Center in Zayed Sports City.

Second seed Belinda Bencic will face Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals, while fifth seed Jelena Ostapenko will face Zheng Qinwen. Seventh seed Arnet Kontavit will face Shelby Rodgers and fourth seed Veronica Kudermetova will face Elise Mertens.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at the predictions for the women’s singles match on Day 3 of the Abu Dhabi Open.

#1 Belinda Bencic vs Marta Kostyuk

second seed Belinda Bencic Will start her campaign in Abu Dhabi against 20-year-old Marta Kostyuk. It will be the second meeting between the two, with the Swiss winning the last at last year’s Miami Open.

Bencic has started the season well, winning eight of his ten games so far.She returned to the top 10 of the WTA rankings by winning the Adelaide International 2 and went on to reach the fourth round Australian Openshe was defeated by the eventual champion Arina Sabalenka.

Kostyuk himself has started the season fairly well, winning six of nine games so far. She reached the quarter-finals of the Adelaide International 1 and the third round of the Australian Open.

Kostyuk defeated similar Elena Rybakina and Amanda Anisimova Last month, so she can’t take it lightly. However, Bencic’s quality and recent form should see her reach the quarter-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open.

#2 Jelena Ostapenko vs Qinwen Zheng

Fifth seed Elena Ostapenko will face the talented Zheng Qinwen in the second round of the Abu Dhabi Open. This will be the second meeting between the two, with Zheng defeating the Latvian in a previous meeting at the US Open last year.

Ostapenko played an outstanding tennis performance, reaching the quarter-finals at the Australian Open.She met a very tough opponent in the game Danielle Collins She narrowly won 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open.

Zheng didn’t have the best start to the season as she pulled out of most of her games earlier than expected. However, the Chinese beat Rebecca Marino 6-3 with a strong performance. Abu Dhabi 6-3 in the first round.

Zheng Zhi had previously defeated Ostapenko and will enter the game in good condition. However, the Latvian’s grit and experience should see her narrowly beat the Chinese and reach the quarter-finals.

#3 Arnett Kontaveit vs Shelby Rogers

Seventh seed Arnet Kontavit will face Shelby Rodgers in the second round of the Abu Dhabi Open. This will be the fourth meeting between the pair, with the Estonian leading 2-1 in the head-to-head encounter.

Both players have won two of five matches so far this season and have won their respective first-round matches in three sets. Rodgers, however, will have to go through the qualifying phase and will feel the effects of what happened to her earlier.

Kontaveit has had a disappointing 2022 season, dropping out of the top 10 of the WTA rankings. However, the Estonian should be able to overcome Rodgers and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open.

#4 Veronica Kudermetova vs Elise Mertens

Fourth seed Veronica Kudermetova faces Elise Mertens at the Abu Dhabi Open on Wednesday. It will be the sixth meeting between the two, with Mertens leading 4-1.

Kudermetova started the season well, as she withdrew due to injury in the quarter-finals of Adelaide International 1 and the semi-finals of Adelaide International 2. However, the Russian suffered a disappointing second-round exit at the Australian Open.

Mertens reached the third round of the Melbourne Major before losing to eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka. She performed well in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open, beating Martina Trevisan and was confident in her match against Kudermetova because of the head-to-head records.

However, the Russians have fared much better since their last meeting in Rome in 2021. She should be able to beat Mertens for the second time and secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open.
