Work Permits for UAE Students: Qualifications, Costs, How to Apply, Everything You Need to Know-News

Teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 can obtain a work permit, which is valid for no more than one year.

Earlier this month, the UAE announced that students aged 15 and over will soon be Allowed to work in the country According to the temporary visa program.

This news is part of a series of reforms announced under the extensive “Top 50 Projects” initiative, aimed at promoting the UAE to achieve greater national and economic growth.

Here is everything you need to know about new student work permits:

Who is eligible?

Young people between the ages of 15 and 18 who live in the country (including Emirati and foreigners) can obtain a work permit, which is valid for no more than one year.

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

> They must have a valid residence visa stamped in their passport

> Relatives must hold a valid residence visa

> Must obtain the approval of their parents or guardians

> They must be healthy

> They must be at least 15 years old and must not exceed 18 years old

> The works assigned to them must not belong to the works stipulated in the attachment in the Ministerial Decree No. 1189 of 2010

> The business license submitted for the application should be valid and free of any violations

> The institution should have an electronic signature card in the ministry

What are the working hours?

> The working hours of adolescents should not exceed six hours a day.

> They have the right to rest for one hour a day.

> No overtime or holidays are allowed.

> The “Labor Law” prohibits young people from working at night and engaging in dangerous or hard work in industrial enterprises.

> Those with work permits can be hired to work on projects for up to six months. There are also work permits for those who wish to reduce their working hours within a year.

Documents required

> Copy of student’s valid passport

> Copy of student’s valid residence visa

> Copy of valid passport of parent/guardian

> Copy of valid residence visa of parents/guardians

> Application copy

> Copy of contract

> Student color photos (white background)

> A valid health certificate issued by the health authority

> Written consent of the teenager’s parent or guardian

> Applications should be processed at the Tas’heel Service Center or through agencies participating in the Ministry’s electronic form program.

> The application will be electronically transferred to the Ministry of Education, and the conditions will be checked and verified.

> If there is any omission, the customer will be notified through the Tas’heel Service Center.

> If the conditions are met, customers can visit the Ministry’s website www.mol.gov.ae to print out the approval notice.

Work permit fee

> There are three types of licenses.

> The initial approval fee for applying for a new electronic work permit is AED 100.

> Once approved, the license fee is 500 dirhams.

Schedule

The service center is open from Saturday to Thursday, 8 am to 8 pm.

Can students under 15 work part-time?

Students aged 12 to 18 who wish to receive training can obtain a training license from MoHRE.

The written consent of the student’s guardian or guardian is required.
