male [Maldives]June 4 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister V Muraleedharan called on Maldivian President Ibrahim Saleh in Male on Sunday and exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health, which is on a 2-day visit to the Maldives, sent a shipment of anti-TB drugs to the island nation.

After gifting the Maldives with a shipment of anti-TB drugs, Foreign Minister V Muraleedharan on Sunday described health cooperation as an “important pillar” of bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Witnessed a batch of anti-TB drug given to Maldives @MoHmv, believe among men that this drug will help @governmentmv plan to eliminate TB from Maldives,” MoS wrote on Twitter.

He added that health cooperation is an important pillar of India-Maldives bilateral relations.

In addition to strong development ties, India and Maldives have been able to forge deep and close cooperation at all levels, including political, administrative, corporate and people-to-people linkages.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ibrahim Mohammad Saleh, our relationship has progressed tremendously over the past few years. India’s development cooperation portfolio in the Maldives has expanded significantly in recent years,” MoS Muraleedharan said in a press statement in Male on Sunday.

Before the Maldives, the minister visited Malaysia on June 1-2, where he also interacted with the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur.
