SAN FRANCISCO, June 11 (AP) — Nine people were injured in a mass shooting in San Francisco’s Mission district Friday night, but police said all are expected to survive.

The San Francisco Police Department tweeted that the shooting “appears to be targeted and isolated.” No suspects or arrests were announced, but police said there was “no known threat to the public”.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the shooting happened just after 9 p.m. when a party was being held at a clothing store near the intersection of 24th Street and Treat Avenue.

Dying Breed, a clothing store near the intersection where the shooting occurred, was scheduled to celebrate its sixth anniversary with a block party Friday night, according to a post on the store’s Instagram account.

A person who answered the phone at the store declined to comment.

“Last night’s shooting at Mission is under investigation,” Mayor London Breed said in a statement Saturday. “I know there are a lot of questions and concerns in the community and people want answers. We’re still trying to understand exactly what happened and why, and we’ll share information as quickly as possible.”

First responders responded quickly to the shooting, Breed said, noting that “no one was killed.”

One of San Francisco’s oldest neighborhoods, the Mission District is named after Mission Dolores – a Spanish missionary dating back to 1776. Historically Latino and increasingly gentrifying in recent years, this vibrant area has a wealth of restaurants and shops. (Associated Press)
