ATLANTA, May 3 (AP) — One person was killed and at least three were wounded Wednesday in a shooting at a downtown Atlanta building, police said.

Atlanta police said no shots have been fired since the initial shooting at a building on West Peachtree Street between 12th and 13th Streets, a commercial district with many office buildings and high-rise condominiums . No suspects were in custody, and police said in an email just after 1 p.m. that it was an “active, fluid situation.”

Police said in an email that they were actively looking for the suspect and any other victims. Three injured people were taken to hospital for treatment, while a fourth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting comes as cities across the United States are ravaged by gun violence and mass shootings in 2023.

Police have released photos of what they believe to be the shooter. The person was wearing dark pants and a light hoodie with the hoodie pulled up. They wore masks on their faces and what appeared to be a bag slung across their chests.

Authorities said the individual was believed to be armed and dangerous and asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911.

Police are urging anyone in the area to ensure their buildings and shelters are in place. (Associated Press)
