Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India]May 15 (ANI): Newly appointed US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat on Monday.
The Ashram, also known as the Gandhi Ashram, is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad and has witnessed many important historical events.

Garcetti arrived wearing a wreath and he greeted the people there with a traditional “Namaste”.
Mahatma Gandhi lived in a small wooden hut in Sabarmati, now known as “Hridaya (Heart) Kunj”.
It is a place of great historical importance where visitors can still see some of the items used by Gandhiji, including the writing desk, kadi kurta, the yarn he spun and some of his letters.
Garcetti had earlier posted a video on his twitter about his visit to Delhi’s Maharastra Bhawan.
“From the bustling streets of Los Angeles to the colorful alleys of Delhi, my love for food continues. I am in Bhawan, Maharashtra, eager to explore the fascinating flavors of India. Embark on this journey with me , to taste the best of India, one state at a time. Where should I go next?” the US envoy wrote.
Earlier on Thursday (May 11), Garcetti and the envoys from the principalities of Qatar and Monaco presented their credentials to President Droupadi Murmu in Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
“President Smt Droupadi Murmu of India accepted the credentials of the Ambassadors of the United States of America, Qatar and Monaco in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace today,” said a release from the Palace.
Garcetti said in a video message after President Drupadi Murmu accepted his credentials: “The world’s oldest and largest democracy, two nations that believe in the power of the people, will write great stories together in the years to come. chapter. Indian partnerships are key to a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific and beyond.”
“I am excited to work with you to ensure we advance this defining relationship of the 21st century. Together, we will address global health challenges, combat climate change, and deliver the next generation of critical and emerging technologies to improve the lives of our people. I couldn’t be more excited to be in India, to make this our new home, and to work with you. Together we will show the world how America and India are better together,” he added.
Garcetti thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for appointing him as the 26th ambassador to India.
In March of this year, former Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti was sworn in as the new US ambassador to India in the presence of US Vice President Kamala Harris. Earlier, the Senate confirmed his appointment as the next US ambassador to India. (Arnie)
