WWF for Nature UAE Receives Grant from Visa Foundation

[ad_1]

Emirates Nature-WWF announces $250,000 grant from Visa Foundation to support non-profit organization’s mission to co-create and implement science-based projects that support local nature and wildlife conservation, climate action, market transformation and green economy, as well as food and water security in the UAE.

Emirates Nature-WWF’s conservation work focuses on creating transformative impact for people and the planet in line with national and international goals. The Visa Foundation grant will expand conservation efforts to build resilient rural communities in the UAE, with a focus on promoting nature-friendly agriculture.

Agroecology and sustainable principles will be used to limit the use of agrochemicals, increase water efficiency and encourage intercropping, contributing to the revitalization of traditional agriculture for present and future generations. The project demonstrates how nature-based solutions can be implemented to enhance climate adaptation, enhance biodiversity and benefit society.

Emirates Nature-WWF will engage local communities and civil society in the implementation of the project, which aims to spread awareness of sustainable agricultural practices and scale up the delivery of transformative impact.

The grant is part of the Visa Foundation Gives program, an ongoing program that addresses local social issues in the communities surrounding Visa’s largest offices worldwide. Through the Visa Foundation Gives program, Visa employees will also have the opportunity to volunteer for nature through Emirates Nature-WWF’s flagship Change Leaders programme.

Leaders for Change, the UAE’s pioneering citizen mobilization campaign, inspires volunteers to create change on the ground through training, ideation sessions and exciting volunteering events. By engaging volunteers with nature and creating opportunities to explore wild spaces and wildlife, the program aims to change the nation’s internal mindset and empower individuals to take action for nature—through real, impact-driven conservation projects on the ground.

Laila Mostafa Abdullatif, Director General, UAEWF-WWF, commented: “Partnerships have played a key role in UAEWWF’s 22-year journey of leading conservation projects in the UAE. We are honored to be recognized by Visa Foundation Being selected to receive this generous grant is a testament to their commitment, which will support our local conservation initiatives through the Year of Sustainability and beyond.

“We are proud to launch this important initiative in the UAE and to focus our support on issues that matter to Visa employees and the communities in which they live and work,” said Graham Macmillan, Chairman of the Visa Foundation. As we work with local organizations that are making a big difference, we are delighted to extend this grant to Emirates Wildlife Fund – WWF to support them in making a transformative impact on environmental conservation in the UAE.” – trade arab news agency
