UAE Black Points: Remove 4 Points Through Accident-Free Day
UAE drivers could get a chance to reduce four traffic points under the Ministry of Interior’s “A Day Without Accidents” road-safety campaign.
The initiative encourages motorists to drive carefully and avoid traffic violations and accidents during a designated accident-free day. In the latest confirmed campaign, eligible participants who completed the requirements could have four traffic points removed from their driving records.
The campaign is aimed at making roads safer and encouraging drivers to follow basic traffic rules. It is also linked to the busy back-to-school period, when traffic volumes rise across the UAE.
Drivers are expected to follow speed limits, wear seat belts, maintain a safe distance and avoid using mobile phones while driving. They must also give way to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
Is August 31 the UAE Accident-Free Day?
Drivers should be careful about information circulating online about August 31, 2026. The previous confirmed “A Day Without Accidents” campaign took place in August 2025.
While a similar initiative may be held again, an official 2026 announcement confirming August 31 should be checked before drivers rely on that date.
The Ministry of Interior and UAE police authorities are the best sources for the final 2026 date, registration details and eligibility rules.
Where Can Drivers Apply?
In previous editions, motorists could register online through the Ministry of Interior (MOI). Registration was designed to be completed digitally, so drivers did not need to visit a police station simply to take part in the campaign.
Participants were asked to make a safety pledge before the designated accident-free day. UAE Pass and other identification details could be required during the online registration process, depending on the service being used.
Once eligible participants completed the campaign requirements, the traffic-point reduction was processed electronically.
Drivers should check the MOI website and the official traffic authority channels in their emirate when the 2026 registration window opens.
What Do Drivers Need to Do?
Drivers taking part in the campaign should follow all road-safety rules during the designated period. Key requirements include:
- Follow the posted speed limit.
- Wear a seat belt at all times.
- Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
- Do not use a handheld phone while driving.
- Give priority to pedestrians at crossings.
- Follow lane markings and traffic signals.
- Give way to ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
- Avoid dangerous overtaking and sudden lane changes.
The aim is not only to reduce UAE black points, but also to encourage motorists to build safer driving habits.
Drivers who already have traffic points should not assume that every point on their record will automatically disappear. Eligibility conditions and the number of points that can be deducted depend on the official campaign rules.
For now, motorists should wait for the official 2026 announcement before treating August 31 as a confirmed date. Once registration details are released, drivers can use the official MOI platform or the relevant police authority’s digital services to participate.
The campaign forms part of the UAE’s wider road-safety efforts, with the focus on reducing accidents, encouraging responsible driving and making roads safer for motorists, passengers and pedestrians.
