Iran, UAE travel agencies head to Malaysia for FAM tour

TEHRAN – Two groups of tourism trade partners comprising 17 travel agencies from Iran and the UAE recently participated in a familiarization tour organized by Tourism Malaysia as part of a campaign to promote Malaysia’s diverse tourist destinations and promote its attractions.

In partnership with Air Arabia, the first flight flew from Tehran, Iran, to Kuala Lumpur via Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, the Financial Tribune reported.

The second trip involved nine Emirates travel agencies, including Air Arabia representatives, and traveled from Sharjah to Kuala Lumpur, scheduled for June 5-10.

Last year, 7,570 and 3,230 foreign tourists from Iran and the United Arab Emirates arrived in Malaysia respectively, compared with 46,559 and 11,174 arrivals respectively before the outbreak in 1999. Currently, Air Arabia has 3 direct flights per week from Sharjah to Kuala Lumpur with 1,944 seats.

Iran is a paradise for sightseers and nature lovers with numerous tourist attractions such as bazaars, museums, mosques, bridges, baths, religious schools, mausoleums, churches, towers and mansions, 26 of which are listed by the United Nations UNESCO Directory. World Heritage List. According to the Tourism Vision 2025 plan, Iran aims to increase the number of tourists from 4.8 million in 2014 to 20 million by 2025.
