Cultural Foundation from September 12 to November 14, as part of its Qalam Creative Writing Programme. The program aims to support Emirati talent and inspire authors to share their creative projects.
Conducted over ten sessions, the workshop will be led by Dr. Fatima Al Mazrouei, a writer and publisher with a PhD in Literature and Criticism. It will begin with an introduction to children’s literature, cover writing principles, elements, and techniques, and include readings of literary texts.
The workshop will also explore illustration techniques, collaboration with illustrators, and practical aspects of writing, proofreading, story editing, and print preparation.
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre will publish the participants’ final works through a contractual arrangement that safeguards all parties’ rights.
The Qalam Creative Writing Programme initially started with the Novel Writing workshop, which will conclude with the completion of works by five creative writers. Under the guidance of Dr. Youssef Htini, a professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), this workshop covered various novel-related topics, including story development, character building, narrative elements, and more.
