Oud Metha Road Project Completed: What Dubai Drivers Need to Know
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the Oud Metha Road project, bringing major road upgrades to Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street.
The project aims to improve traffic flow and reduce journey times across one of Dubai’s busy road corridors. According to the RTA, travel time has fallen by 75%, from around 20 minutes to five minutes.
The upgraded road network also increases capacity from 10,400 vehicles per hour to 15,600 vehicles per hour in both directions. This represents a 50% increase in capacity.
What the Oud Metha Road Project Includes
The project covers several major road improvements across the area. Key features include:
- Four upgraded major intersections
- Four new bridges
- Two tunnels
- Around 14 kilometres of road works
- A combined 4.3 kilometres of bridges and tunnels
These improvements are designed to help vehicles move more smoothly between Oud Metha Road, Al Asayel Street and nearby routes.
What It Means for Dubai Drivers
The shorter journey time could make daily commutes through the area easier, particularly during busy periods.
The project also improves connections around important areas such as Oud Metha, Umm Hurair, Al Jaddaf and Zabeel. It forms part of Dubai’s wider road infrastructure programme to improve movement across the city.
With higher road capacity and new bridges and tunnels now in place, motorists using this corridor can expect a more direct road network and reduced travel times.
The completion comes as Dubai continues to invest in major transport projects aimed at improving connectivity and managing growing traffic demand.
