Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, opened Meta’s new regional headquarters in Dubai Internet City on Tuesday.

Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Meta, attended the opening ceremony. Sheikh Hamdan said Meta’s new office in the emirate reflects Dubai’s growth as a global business hub and the world’s largest tech companies’ continued confidence in the city as a base to tap new opportunities and advance innovation. According to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate continues to develop its comprehensive industry ecosystem, infrastructure and regulatory framework to support the world’s largest Companies seek to improve their competitiveness and provide high-quality services to some of the world’s fastest growing emerging markets.

Sheikh Hamdan further stated that the company is one of many leading global technology companies benefiting from Dubai’s vibrant growth-friendly environment. Meta’s new headquarters will serve the Middle East and North Africa region (Mena), enabling more than 100 employees to meet the growing needs of the hundreds of millions of people in the region who use the company’s platform every month.

By partnering with various public and private sector organisations in the MENA region, Meta aims to have a significant impact across industries. As part of its efforts to support businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the company has provided grants to over 100 Dubai-based small and medium businesses (SMBs). Meta also launched a training and business resource center and MetaBoost program to help businesses grow.

Sheryl Sandberg said the new office represents Meta’s commitment to the millions of people who use the company’s platform to express themselves, stay connected with their loved ones and communities, start businesses and grow their businesses.
