Dubai: If you’re having trouble finding parking near your home or office in Abu Dhabi, subscribing to a multi-storey car park may be an easier and cheaper option. Seven multi-storey car parks are located in key areas around the emirate and are usually available to motorists for hourly or daily rates. However, on July 27, Abu Dhabi’s transport regulator, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), announced on Twitter that subscribers of multi-storey car parks can use any multi-storey facility in the UAE for free.
Here’s how you can get a parking subscription permit from the ITC.
How do I apply for a subscription license?
You can apply for a permit online through tamm.abudhabi, Abu Dhabi’s official government service platform, or visit the ITC Customer Happiness Centre in Abu Dhabi City. If you would like to apply online, please follow the steps below:
1. Visit tamm.abudhbai and click on the “Vehicles and Traffic” category on the home page.
2. Click on the parking area and select the third service – “Apply for multi-storey parking”.
3. After clicking the Start button, you will be asked to log in with your Emirates Pass account. Log in to your Emirates Pass account to continue the service.
4. Complete the permit application, including the period for which you want to obtain the permit – three months, six months or one year.
5. If you are a resident of this area, enter the number of one of the seven multi-storey car parks closest to you.
6. If you are a resident, enter your rental contract number. If you work in an office building, please select the parking number of the multi-storey car park closest to you. Then enter your company’s rental contract number. If you are a company employee and want to use the multi-storey car park, you must upload the company’s “No Objection” letter. Even if you have to state the lease contract number for your home or office, you can still access any multi-level space.
7. Enter your vehicle details such as traffic code (link), vehicle model and license plate.
8. After ITC approves the application, you will pay the license fee electronically by debit or credit card.
9. After paying the amount, you can download a digital version of the license from the TAMM website. For physical licenses, you can go to the ITC Customer Center to collect them. You can enter the multi-storey car park with a digital and physical permit.
How much does a parking permit cost?
The cost of a parking permit depends on the duration of your subscription:
• Three months: Dh1,369
• Six months: Dh2,738
• One year: Dh5,475
After paying the permit fee, you can use any of the seven multi-storey car parks located throughout Abu Dhabi according to your requirements.
Location of multi-storey parking spaces
Here are the seven areas in Abu Dhabi with multi-storey car parks:
1. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street – Behind Liwa Centre
2. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed The First Street – Behind the Ministry of Finance
3. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street – behind Zakher Hotelbehind Liwa Centre
4. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street-Behind Bahrain Bank
5. Al Lulu Street – Behind Al-Ahlia Hospital
6. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed The First Street – Behind Mashreq Bank
7. Al Dana Area – Opposite Emirates Institute of Technology
How do multi-level parking permits work?
According to the ITC, once customers have registered for a parking permit, they will receive a subscription card that will be scanned at all multi-storey car park entrances and exits. The scanning system also reads the car’s license plate to identify subscribers.
Can I use a multi-storey parking space without a permit?
Motorists without a permit can still use these multi-storey car parks. However, they will be billed by the hour or by the day. Additionally, parking fees may vary based on multi-storey parking operators. Parking fees are displayed at the entrance to each parking building.
