Dubai: The future of cybersecurity and controls, the value of a strong internal audit function, and digitalization and transformation are key themes to be discussed at the upcoming 11th Chief Audit Executive (CAE) meeting organised by the Institute of Internal Auditors in the UAE (IAA UAE) Held at Conrad Etihad Towers Abu Dhabi from 2-3 November 2022 under the theme ‘Agile, New Norms’.
More than 200 CAEs and senior audit executives from the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region will be present at this innovative, fully interactive conference, held live and in-person for the first time in two years.
“The ‘New Norm for Agile’ agenda has been carefully crafted to ensure our auditors, CAOs, CFOs and CEOs are future-ready and digitally savvy for technological disruption, cybersecurity and digitalization. In addition, the conference will increase the UAE’s reputation as a global hub for best practice and good governance, as envisioned by our leadership,” said Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman of the UAE IAA.
“Internal audit professionals will benefit greatly from expert deliberations and presentations on trends in cryptocurrencies, cybersecurity, compliance, digitalization and transformation of internal audit practice. I call on all of our IA professionals to use this conference to update their own corporate governance and global good practice,” he added.
Targeting professionals from across the MENA region, the conference will provide delegates with a great opportunity to interact with celebrities and hear some of the best speakers and professionals who have the power to impact change in the industry.
Highlights of this year’s CAE conference include a presentation by Dr. Fene Osakwe, a global cybersecurity leader and Africa’s most popular cybersecurity consultant, on “What CAEs should know about the future of cybersecurity and what controls check in,” and KPMG’s presentation on “Megatrends: Cryptocurrencies, China’s rise as a global superpower, and the region’s growing sophistication and compliance.”
The panel discussion “Internal Audit Solutions: How to Build the Next Generation of Internal Audit” will be moderated by Richard Chambers, Senior Internal Audit Consultant to the Audit Committee.
ADQ Group Chief Investment Officer Dr. Jaap Kalkman will talk about “Navigating the Modern Agile World”.
Tony Douglas, former group chief executive of Etihad Airways Group, will talk about “the value of a strong internal audit function” and Fadi Sidani, chief internal audit officer of Beeah Group, will talk about “agility in a sustainable world”.
Strategic partners are Beeah, KPMG, Protiviti, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Etihad as the official airline.
The UAE IAA is a non-profit organization founded in 1995 on the lines of its parent institution, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Global), which has 200,000 members from more than 190 countries and organizations. The UAE accounts for about 45% of the total number of internal auditors working in the region, with an estimated 7,000 auditors, of which 22% are Emiratis.
