WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (AP) — A woman who accused Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 1986 sued the comedian, NBCUniversal and others in New York Friday, this month. Earlier, five other women had filed similar lawsuits.
Stacey Pinkerton said she was a 21-year-old flight attendant and model when she claimed Cosby drugged her at a restaurant in Illinois and took her back to a hotel room in Chicago. The suit alleges that Cosby “engaged in compulsive sexual intercourse” with her while she was incapacitated by drug use.

The lawsuit comes more than a year after Cosby left prison after his 2018 sexual assault conviction in Pennsylvania was overturned. Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman who said Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was a teenager.
Pinkerton said the alleged attack came after she met Cosby in New York and he promised to help her cause. She said she had a role on NBC’s “The Cosby Show,” but didn’t appear in the final cut.
Months after the alleged assault, Pinkerton said Cosby invited her to his performance at a Chicago theater, where she claimed he kissed and fondled her forcefully.
“Cosby had the same or similar patterns of behavior as his victims,” Pinkerton’s lawsuit says, “including expressing an interest in advancing their careers, casting them on The Cosby Show, exploiting Cosby’s Bixiu and the locations where it was filmed were used as a means of accessing, sequestering, sexually harassing and assaulting women, using drugs to incapacitate victims, and forcibly having sex with them without their consent.”
The suit alleges that NBC, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Cassie Werner Television should have known Cosby was a threat to women but failed to protect Pinkerton from him.
Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said Friday night that Cosby “continues to vehemently deny all allegations against him and looks forward to defending himself in court.”
Wyatt wrote in an email to The Associated Press: “As we have always said, America can now see that this has nothing to do with justice for victims of alleged sexual assault, it’s all about money “We trust that the courts, as well as the court of public opinion, will abide by the rules of the law and exonerate Mr Cosby from these charges.”
Representatives for NBCUniversal, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Carsey-Werner Television did not immediately respond to requests for comment late Friday. All three companies were involved in the production of “The Cosby Show,” Pinkerton’s lawsuit says.
The lawsuit filed by Pinkerton and five other women came within a one-year window in New York during which adults can file sexual abuse complaints against allegations that have passed the statute of limitations.
Cosby served nearly three years in prison before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction, ruling that he only offered incriminating testimony about the encounter after he believed he had immunity from prosecution . The trial judge and the intermediate appellate court found no evidence of such immunity.
Seven other plaintiffs received settlements from Cosby’s insurance company after Pennsylvania was convicted in a defamation lawsuit they filed in Massachusetts.
