Dr Sheikh Sultan also mentioned new projects that will provide jobs in the emirate
His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, clarified the four categories of government retirement eligibility for the Sharjah government as of January this year during the ‘Line’ program broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television.
1. The 51 persons in the first category are those who have reached the statutory retirement age.
2. The second category is those who have 100% self-sufficient funds in the Sharjah Social Security Fund, have worked in the government for 35 years, but have not reached the statutory retirement age.
3. The third category is those who have worked for 30 years and agree that the government will pay the rest to the Sharjah Social Security Fund to purchase pensions.
4. The fourth category is reserved for women who qualify for retirement and have worked for the emirate government for 20 years.
Dr Sheikh Sultan pointed out that there are other retirement situations, such as people suffering from chronic diseases, the government pays the remaining amount to the Sharjah Social Security Fund so that they can retire, and people who lack the ability and can no longer contribute to retirement.
Career Opportunities
The Ruler of Sharjah added that there are new projects that will provide many employment opportunities, such as the power projects in Khorfakkan and Kalba, which require a large number of employees, and the Layyah area, where the facilities that provide energy to Sharjah are now being replaced, except in the Al Hamriyah area. A large power project and another water project, as well as small but important water projects in the fields of agriculture, livestock and food factories.
