Vistara Airways confirmed on Tuesday that misconduct occurred by a passenger on board Flight 256 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai. The incident happened on January 30th. A 45-year-old “drunk” Italian woman allegedly beat up one crew member and spat on another.

According to the statement, the captain issued warning cards to the unruly passengers, and the decision to restrain the individuals involved was subsequently made. Vistara added that ground security agencies were told to act immediately upon arrival.

The joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines had earlier reported that it crossed the $1 billion mark in revenue and remained EBITDA positive for the current financial year. The airline also broke even for the first time in the October-December quarter of fiscal 2023.

In July 2022, the airline’s domestic market share hit an all-time high of 10.4%. The airline has since maintained its second position in terms of domestic market share.
