SINGAPORE, March 8 (PTI) — An Indian national is on trial on eight charges of harassment involving four alleged victims while working as an instructor at a yoga center in Singapore’s central business district.

The first victim, who was 24 years old at the time, was allegedly sexually molested by Rajpal Singh on July 11, 2020. If this was in a class at Trust Yoga, it’s not stated in the court documents.

Deputy public prosecutor Selene Yap told the court during Singh’s trial that the woman used WhatsApp to tell friends what happened to her after class, The Straits Times reported.

Singh, 33, was hired as a yoga instructor at Trust Yoga in Telok Ayer Street on April 1, 2019.

The alleged victim also spoke to Arvind Ganaraj, who was then an assistant sales manager at Trust Yoga. The two continued to communicate with each other via text messages the next day.

On July 31, 2020, the woman posted about her experience on Twitter, and two other women, aged 28 and 37, contacted her after reading it.

The 28-year-old also shared her ordeal in a Facebook post.

The fourth alleged victim, who was approximately 23 and 24 years old at the time, saw online reviews for Trust Yoga sometime on or before August 25, 2020.

Court documents gave no details about the review.

She later contacted a person identified only as B2 in court documents via Facebook and told him about her experience.

B2 then introduced her to the first alleged victim, and the women spoke to each other via Instagram.

The four alleged victims reported the incidents to police in July and August 2020, according to court documents.

One of them testified on camera Tuesday in a process that was closed to the public, including members of the media.

Singh’s trial will resume on Wednesday.

He has two other allegations of sexual harassment related to a fifth woman, which will be dealt with at a later date.

All five women could not be named due to gag orders.
