Ex-Marriott exec Thomas Schoen named president of Wynn Emirates Resorts – IAG

Casino giant Wynn Resorts has named ex-Marriott Hotels & Resorts exec Thomas Schoen its president $3.9 billion Wynn Marjan Island integrated resortwhich will be released in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in early 2027.

Schon, who worked for many years at Marriott-owned Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will oversee all operational aspects of Wynn Marjan Island, the company said in a news release Monday.

“Wynn Al Marjan Island is an exciting project for Wynn Resorts,” said Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings. “We are delighted to welcome Thomas to lead our operations team in this new venture. In his role, he will lead the delivery of the exceptional Wynn guest service for which we are known. Thomas’ passion for hospitality and extensive experience will serve as the basis for Wynn Al Marjan Island An important part of our success.”

Schoen’s work experience with Marriott includes working with major brands such as Sheraton, Westin, Le Méridien, St. Regis, W Hotels and Hyatt. Most recently, he held the position of General Manager of the Pine Cliffs Resort – Luxury Collection complex in Portugal, where he oversaw an extensive refurbishment and construction program to complete the resort’s master plan, manage pre-opening and opening, and position the resort as digital. Wynn Al Marjan Island, to be developed with local partners Marjan LLC and RAK Hospitality Holding LLC, will rise more than 1,000 feet (305 meters) above sea level and offer approximately 1,500 rooms, suites and villas, the UAE’s first casino, 24 restaurants and lounges Experiences, innovative spa and wellness experiences, a high-end shopping plaza, a state-of-the-art event center, a theater hosting unique productions, and more.
