Nagasaki [Japan]May 13 (ANI): Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the opening session of the G7 Health Ministers meeting in Nagasaki on Saturday.

He highlighted the fact that India’s G20 presidency health priorities are fully aligned with the G7 health agenda.

Federal Minister Mandavia also noted that G7 discussions prioritized health emergency preparedness, access to medical countermeasures and digital health to achieve UHC (Universal Health Coverage).

He tweeted: “Speech at the opening of the G7 Health Ministers meeting in Nagasaki. India’s G20 presidency health priorities and G7 health agenda are fully aligned. We prioritize health emergency preparedness, access to medical countermeasures and Digital health for universal health coverage.”

During the G7 Health Ministers Meeting, Mandavia also met with Budi Sadikin, Indonesian Minister of Health, and discussed cooperation in the field of medicine, medical research, and ensuring the cost-effectiveness of medicines. Mandavia also invited the Indonesian health minister to attend the G20 health ministers meeting in India.

“Meet Indonesian Health Minister Budi G. Sadikin on the sidelines of G7 Health Ministers meeting in Nagasaki. Indonesia supports India’s G20 presidency health priorities,” the Union Health Minister tweeted.

His tweet added: “Discussed cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals, medical research and ensuring cost-effective medicines. Also, His Excellency the Minister of Health of Indonesia was invited to the G20 Health Ministers meeting in India.”

Federal Minister Mandavia arrived in Nagasaki, Japan on Friday to attend the G7 health ministers meeting.

Japan holds this year’s G7 chairmanship. The country will host a meeting of health ministers on May 13-14. (Arnie)
