DUBAI – Residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can renew their driver’s license and register their vehicle in as little as two hours.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a more convenient and smoother process whereby driving licenses and vehicle registrations can be delivered within just two hours within Dubai and the same day in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
An interesting aspect of the service is that if the applicant is not in the UAE, they can even request delivery to a location outside the emirate.
The procedure for using these services is simple, starting with visiting the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website and selecting ‘Driver and Owner Services’. You can then choose to apply to renew your driving license and complete the identity verification by entering your Emirates ID number and ID expiry date. Finally, verification of the driver’s license information will be completed and you can then choose how you want your driver’s license delivered.
In terms of price, the Premium service to Dubai costs Dh50 and the estimated delivery time is only 2 hours. Same day delivery is available in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah for AED 35.
Standard services in the UAE take about one to five days and cost Dh20, while international services take about 10 days and cost Dh50, Khaleej Times reported.
It’s worth mentioning that premium and same day delivery is available Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 12pm.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates are trying to fast-track and digitize every single public service residents need, from Emirates IDs to visas and more. The efforts in this regard have been lauded by the masses and experts, who say public provision of services is at the heart of the government’s initiatives for the benefit of the people.
