Majid Al Futtaim, a leading retail, shopping centre, community and leisure pioneer in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, opened a newly designed Dubai store for Italian luxury furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau last night (May 16).
The inauguration included some of the biggest names in design, who were invited to experience Poltrona Frau’s craftsmanship first-hand, with a live demonstration by one of the brand’s skilled artisans showing how the iconic Chester sofa is made.
The new 1,000-square-meter store in Jumeirah was designed by Poltrona Frau in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim Lifestyle, featuring a curated selection of historic and contemporary pieces such as Pierluigi Cerri’s iconic Ouverture sofa and Ludovica’s contemporary outdoor collection Souvenier D’Italie + Roberto Palomba , statement from Majid Al Futtaim.
Furthermore, Ceccotti Collezioni, a Tuscan brand specializing in fine traditional cabinetmaking techniques, has been part of Poltrona Frau since 2018, presenting in its new store iconic pieces designed by Roberto Lazzeroni, such as the iconic sofa DRDP and the Icolounge armchair.
The Fumoir armchair, a precious historical piece that was flown in from the Poltrona Frau museum in Tolentino, is also on display alongside the Archibald Limited Edition, a stunning collaboration with artist Felipe Pantone, it said.
This juxtaposition of past and present is meant to highlight the brand’s rich history, as well as its commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing modern design.
The grand opening provided an immersive experience for guests, with four dedicated areas showcasing the brand’s history, its commitment to sustainability and Leathership®, and its focus on craftsmanship and material quality.
Renowned Italian designer and special guest of the event, Roberto Lazzeroni, also presented his collaboration with Poltrona Frau, including a selection of collections presented at the Salone Del Mobile in Milan in April.
