Travelex opens new store in Middle East

As international aviation continues to rebound post-pandemic, market-leading FX brand Travelex has launched over 20 new bureaus and partnerships across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Brazil.

In Europe, two new offices each opened at Frankfurt Airport (both landside) and Schiphol (one landside and one airside), and all four new offices also offer FX ATM services. The new locations mean Travelex now operates a total of 9 stations at Schiphol and 15 at Frankfurt Airport.

In the UK, Travelex’s ATM self-service cashier service has been expanded following a successful pilot at Heathrow Terminal 5: 54 ATMs are now operational across all four operating Heathrow terminals There are also 24 at Manchester Airport and seven at Birmingham Airport, allowing customers to pre-order cash through ATMs before flying.

In Brazil, Travelex opened 7 new offices, 4 in São Paulo, 1 in Rio de Janeiro, 1 in Minas Gerais and 1 in Santa Catarina. Travelex also announced a partnership with CCR Aeroportos, one of Brazil’s largest The total number of stores reached more than 120.

Travelex will open eight new stores in the Asia Pacific region in 2023, including a new retail store at Penang International Airport. In China, Travelex opened two new stores (one in arrivals and one in departures) at Chongqing Airport, while at Sendai Airport in Japan, Travelex opened a new overland store, its first in the country. The 73rd store.

At Hong Kong International Airport, Travelex has also extended its contract for eight bureaus in the arrivals, departures and transit areas (airside and landside) for a further three years.

In Australia, Travelex has opened new offices in Brisbane, at the historic Anzac Square Arcade in the heart of the Brisbane CBD and Mandurah in Western Australia. In New Zealand, Travelex also opened new stores in Albany and Nelson. Additionally, Travelex has signed a partnership with the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), whereby BNZ entrusts Travelex with all of its travel currency services.

In the Middle East, Travelex has opened a new office at Dubai International Airport. Located in the departures area, the new store is focused on serving FX and Vat Refund customers, meaning Travelex now has 31 stores in DXB, 52 stores in the UAE, and 26 ATMs.

Travelex has also launched a new On The Move self-service kiosk at Muscat Airport, serving customers using one of the airport’s two premium lounges, as well as guests of airport hotels. The new mobile store is one of two new extensions to the airport, along with a pre-immigration store scheduled to open later this year.

The new bureau comes as the latest IATA passenger figures show that global international air passenger traffic is now at 81.6% of March 2019 levels.
