A new type of immersive entertainment venue is about to break ground at The Colony’s Grandscape.
Cosm will start construction next week, 65,000 square feet of public entertainment The address is 5776 Grandscape Blvd., the company said Thursday. Cosm was launched in 2020 by Mirasol Capital, a Dallas-based investment firm founded by RealPage founder Steve Winn.
“Cosm is using its technology to create a new type of immersive entertainment called ‘shared reality,’ working with global partners to stream live content to physical venues and virtual worlds,” Winn said in a statement last year. “We’re just getting started and have plans to open venues around the world.”
Cosm President and CEO Jeb Terry, The Colony Mayor Richard Boyer and Grandscape President Jeff Lind will be in attendance at the June 7 groundbreaking event.
The venue will offer “shared reality” experiences without the use of headsets or other equipment, such as art exhibits, experiential content, and live sports and entertainment, such as NBA games and pay-per-view UFC events, the company said.
Designed by Dallas-based architecture firm HKS, which is also behind AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the venue will feature an 87-foot-diameter LED dome and an outdoor deck.
It will open in the fall of 2024, joining a string of entertainment venues already in the 400-plus-acre Grandscape, such as the Giant Ferris Wheel, sprawling specialty stores like the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Scheels, the Andretti indoor go-kart track and Upcoming Fritz’s Adventure Indoor Adventure Park.
The Grandscape location marks Cosm’s second venue.Another site is under construction Hollywood Park in Los Angeles.
