Weekend Fun | From Simple Cyrillic to REO Speedwagon

[ad_1]

Frustrated because you can’t get tickets to one of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Pittsburgh this weekend?

Get over it by flooding your sadness with haluski and kielbasa at the Simply Slavic festival in downtown Youngstown on Friday and Saturday.

This small but fun event will be held on East Federal Street between Central Plaza and Champion Street. Admission is $5.

Held on Fridays from 5pm to 11pm and Saturdays from noon to midnight, it’s not the biggest festival, but it’s one of the funniest. Of course, there is also a wide variety of Slavic food and drinks, as well as dancing and live music.

It culminates in the Vatra, or bonfire, which will be lit after dark on Saturday night to the music of the Harmonia folk band.

Contrary to what you may have heard, not every street in downtown Youngstown is closed for redevelopment.
