Bashir Ahmad, a young man, makes “smart” glasses and walking sticks for the blind in Nangarhar province.

He said the glasses and canes would help blind people change their way when faced with danger. According to TOLO News, he had the idea when he was in school, and now he has successfully realized it.

According to Ahmed, the two devices cost close to 3,000 Afghan rupees to build, using sensors, guides, bottles and wires.

“When I’m 30 to 35 centimeters away from a wall, the glasses notify me to change my path,” said Bashir Ahmad.

“I didn’t expect him to achieve his goal and finish these glasses so quickly,” said Zubir Stanikzai, a friend of Bashir Ahmed.

Nor Agha Nekzad, a friend of Bashir Ahmed, said: “I am also inspired and I am also starting to develop a system, which will be completed soon and I will share it with the audience.”

Meanwhile, the head of Nangarhar’s Department of Information and Culture pledged to help the innovative young man.

“We encourage him and will introduce him to relevant ministries to work with him,” said Information and Culture Minister Noor Mohammad Hanif. (Arnie)
