Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the byline “Staff.” Typically, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting a basic news brief from an official source, such as a city press release about road closures, and requires little or no coverage. This byline is sometimes used when a news story has many authors or is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If an external source was used, it will be noted in the story.
