Abu Dhabi launches app for safe navigation of waterways

Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has launched the Al Nalia smartphone application to provide access to Abu Dhabi’s maritime safety map.

Developed in partnership with Abu Dhabi Maritime and Maqta Gateway – both part of the AD Ports Group – the app improves the safety of maritime navigation in the emirate and ensures the efficiency and ease of use of Abu Dhabi’s waterways.

Al Nalia was launched as a follow-up to the launch of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Safety Map. The two launches showcase a qualitative change in maritime navigation in the emirate, showcasing vital navigational information, including major commercial shipping lanes and connecting routes, speed limits, mooring and anchorage areas, and designated locations for motorized and non-motorized marine recreational activities, in real-time .

With its highly interactive interface, the app will help users directly search for the nearest marine facilities, including marinas, slipways, marine refueling stations, and locations designated for recreational activities such as jet skiing, marine water sports, swimming and surfing.
