Dua Lipa suffers from imposter syndrome.
But the 27-year-old singer, who rose to fame after releasing songs on YouTube, said she finds inspiring artists plagued by self-doubt.
She told The Sun on Sunday (04.12.22): “A lot of times, I’ve been inspired by a lot of self-doubt or dark artists. I think, ‘Oh my God, I have to suffer so much to do what I do do things?
“Sometimes that’s how I feel, sometimes imposter syndrome gets the better of me. Especially when I’m writing.”
She added that she also worried that her acting skills would not be up to par when she was under pressure to portray her emotional state in front of the camera.
Dua, who just made her debut in the spy movie Argyle alongside Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston and Samuel L. Jackson, said: “It’s really exciting. Excited. But for me, it’s baby steps.
“It’s also the best way to discover yourself, rather than plunge yourself into the abyss of problems you can’t fully solve.
“My biggest fear is playing a really big role and then being like, ‘Now I have to be an actor and feel all these emotions in front of the camera.'”
“I haven’t brought myself to that point yet.”
She added trying to enjoy her work: “When you’re creating it, have fun with it.
“It’s only scary when it’s released and you think, ‘Oh my god, are people going to like this?'”
“That’s how I feel about my music. When I’m doing it, it’s all great and I’m in my own world, doing something that I’m proud of.
“You want to do something that you haven’t done before, and you want to challenge yourself and explore this different dimension. I can turn off social media. I’m doing it for me, and I’m doing something I love.”
She added that one of her favorite times in the past was relaxing in her West London mansion when she wasn’t working, saying: “I love lounging on the sofa, inviting my friends to dinner, drinks… and sleeping in. .
“When I get a little time off, I think, ‘What can I do? Where can I go? Who can I see?'”
