DWTC welcomes 1.98 million visitors in 2022; up 29%


The Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), the regional trade and business hub, will host 1.98 million delegates in 2022, a strong growth of 29% in visits.

DWTC is home to a signature mix of high-impact business and trade events 244 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions), business and consumer events drive the results. Of these, 97 exhibitions and conferences attracted 1.18 million attendees, 38 percent of whom were from overseas, reflecting Dubai’s status as a premier destination for business and tourism.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Center Authority, said: “DWTC’s 2022 results are a clear recognition of Dubai’s efforts to drive the post-pandemic economic recovery and capitalize on opportunities, achieved through a strategic and collaborative commitment of stakeholders in Dubai. Achieved in all sectors. Economy.

“2022 is an unprecedented year for the MICE industry, highlighting Dubai’s leadership and its vibrant events sector as a recognized global platform for impactful knowledge sharing, effective networking and game-changing Innovation in regulation. We will build on this momentum by strengthening Dubai’s position as the capital of the MICE industry and continue to contribute to the achievement of the D33 goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda.”

The dynamic return of the MICE industry in 2022 reflects DWTC’s strong business portfolio and its ability to attract more than 37,000 exhibiting companies (50% more than in 2021), of which 72% are international companies.

Top-performing industries in 2022
Healthcare, Medical and Science was the top performing sector with 17 events (12 in 2021) attracting 202,000 attendees, led by two of the region’s leading healthcare exhibitions: Arab Health and AEEDC.

Information technology, from 6 events in 2021 to 10 events in 2022, attracting 184,000 attendees, a year-on-year increase of 22%, led by GITEX Global and its concurrent events.

The food and beverage trade segment, led by Gulfood, held eight events with 160,000 registered attendees, an 18% increase over 2021.

Driven by Automechanika, the automotive and transport industry held seven events, attracting 69,000 attendees, while the Big 5 was the best-performing exhibition in the architecture, construction and facilities management industry, attracting more than 66,000 visitors.

Spending and leisure activity rebounds with more than 790,000 visitors
DWTC hosted more than 790,000 visitors across 47 exciting entertainment, live and leisure events, led by Dubai Sports World with record attendance of 308,000, a 53% increase over 2021, while Dubai Run The cool run will be attended by 193,000 people in 2022.

DXB Live records impressive business growth
DXB Live, DWTC’s experiential agency, posted record growth in 2022, marking its foray into new regional and international markets, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Germany.

DXB Live has serviced over 400 events and is the main contractor for over 50 exhibitions including major events such as GITEX Global, Light Middle East, Beauty world and Gulfood.

In addition, DXB Live, in cooperation with the Coffee World Association, organizes and presents the Coffee World Exhibition. In its second edition, the event was a huge success, with 1000 exhibitors and brands from 44 countries attracting great interest from global coffee manufacturers and businesses.

DWTC free zone witnesses strong growth
Dubai World Trade Center Authority (DWTCA) free zone doubles in size with 926 new permits issued in 2022, while Grade A business hub One Central sees highest occupancy since opening at 75% . 2022 also sees the successful opening of One Central’s five-star flagship 25 Hours Hotel, whose highly successful dining concept is complemented by lively new restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood.

Almarri said: “The continued recalibration of the global events industry and DWTC is our focus in 2022, and our year-end results are particularly important given its wide-ranging economic impact. Our position as a leader in the MICE industry both locally and outside the UAE.
