ABU DHABI, 23rd February, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Global Women’s Summit closed on Wednesday after shedding light on the key role women play in society.
The two-day summit was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the National Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) .
On the final day of the summit, prominent figures in politics, culture, science and sport participated in nine panel discussions.
The summit is critical given the growing need to create a global platform to express human solidarity, come together to share perspectives, exchange experiences and propose solutions to common challenges women face, including the gender gap.
The summit addressed intellectual and cultural barriers to women’s empowerment. Discussions at the event identified the opportunities and talents women need to lead society, qualifying them to play key roles in education and community development.
The two-day event was organized by the World Council of Muslim Communities (TWMCC) and the General Women’s General Assembly (GWU) under the theme “The Role of Women Leaders in Peacebuilding, Social Integration and Prosperity”.
The summit coincided with the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote.
Famous politicians, religious leaders, entrepreneurs, social activists, cultural celebrities, media personalities and scholars from more than 100 countries attended the event.
