Emirates News Agency – Local media: UAE’s humanitarian vision inspiring

[ad_1]

ABU DHABI, 20th February, 2023 (WAM) — Media coverage is filled with heartbreaking stories and footage from the devastated regions of Turkey and Syria, where the death toll and destruction continues to rise — a local newspaper said – nearly two weeks ago. After the 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurred last week.

“A series of aftershocks ended this tragedy, making it one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. But if people are allowed to search for a silver lining amidst the devastation, it is the fact that there is still hope; Those who disrupt are still resilient,” the Khaleej Times said in an editorial on Monday.

The human spirit is not easily bent – no matter how great the damage. In this unfolding narrative, the UAE has once again demonstrated how exemplary and consistent it is in its efforts to ensure spiritual perpetuation.

“As one of the first countries to step up aid and services (search and rescue teams, medical personnel) and establish field hospitals to treat and care for victims, the rulers of the UAE have not relaxed in their efforts,” the newspaper added.

As Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, said: “We reach out to help humanity and human life, because that is the most important and precious thing to us. Our rescue teams are the first here , they won’t leave.”

The daily continued, “It’s also notable how residents across the country, backed by organized platforms, are coming together to make a difference. Every day, we hear from residential communities and businesses spearheading collection campaigns. Many of them We are all being invited to donate hampers filled with essentials like sleeping bags, blankets and groceries.

“When there is a call for a collection of needs-based products for babies and women, there is more empathy. Even at the grassroots level, it’s being done in an extremely streamlined way, with no room for confusion.”

“Catastrophic events like this bring us together to forget man-made barriers like borders and act for the common good. The UAE – once again – has shown the way and instilled a sense of giving…and caring,” it said The Dubai-based daily concluded.
