Emirates News Agency – Mohammed bin Rashid chairs UAE Cabinet meeting, consolidates platform to approve investments in key sectors

Ajman, 4th December, 2022 – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai chaired the UAE Cabinet at the Al Zorah Nature Reserve in Ajman The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Dubai; Sheikh Saif bin Al-Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior His Excellency Lieutenant General Zayed Al Nahyan.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: “I chaired the cabinet meeting. We approved the establishment of a comprehensive national platform highlighting various sectors such as fintech, tourism, manufacturing and renewable energy opportunities for investors. The platform will be supervised by the Ministry of Economy.”
His Highness added: “Additionally, we have approved national building codes and standards, which include sustainability standards for roads, buildings, housing, etc… The goal is to reduce the consumption of natural resources and reduce the UAE’s carbon footprint.”
Foreign Investor Platform
The UAE Cabinet meeting approved the Compass Project for Foreign Investors, one of the transformational projects of the Ministry of Economy, which has achieved a qualitative leap in improving the UAE’s investment climate and highlighting the country’s capabilities in targeted sectors.
New program includes an electronic platform, guides and advocacy tools highlighting various opportunities for foreign investors in financial technology, agtech, healthcare, education, communication and information technology, media and entertainment, e-commerce, tourism, space and more , logistics, manufacturing, medical tourism, renewable energy, creative industries, gaming and smart cities.
National Building Codes and Standards
In addition, the Cabinet meeting approved the National Building Code and Standards, which include sustainability guidelines for buildings, roads, housing, and national guidelines for sustainable operation and maintenance of buildings. National building codes and standards will ensure a 15% reduction in material and natural resource use, a 5% reduction in carbon footprint, a 45% reduction in road energy use, a 25% reduction in building and housing energy use, and a 16% reduction in water use, in addition to supporting a green economy , and the welfare and comfort of the people of the UAE.

promote a healthy lifestyle
The meeting approved a national policy to promote healthy lifestyles in the country. It aims to improve the quality of healthy life of individuals and societies, create healthy environments that promote and protect the rights of people of all ages, and encourage multisectoral collaboration to ensure effective preventive interventions for problems and diseases associated with unhealthy lifestyles. The policy aims to reinforce the concept of community partnerships by raising awareness among community members about healthy behaviours.

Smart Health Plan
The Cabinet meeting also approved the Smart Health Initiative, which aims to develop health services in the country through partnership and collaboration between various government health entities and private sector agencies.

The initiative will work to develop and update rules governing the use of modern methods and technologies to provide advanced digital health services, improve the efficiency of medical equipment, and the accuracy of diagnosing, prescribing, and dispensing medical products.

The initiative will encourage telehealth interventions, telehealth follow-up and monitoring to provide 100% telehealth services.

The Cabinet also approved the launch of a campaign to clean up UAE tourism landmarks and destinations to coincide with the International Day of Volunteers.

The campaign is run by the Department of Community Development in partnership with the Department of Climate Change and the Environment.

The event, which runs for 10 days to the 15th starting December 5th, will see officials from federal and local authorities, ministers and task forces working with the UAE to take part in cleaning up the country’s tourist destinations with environmental groups.

The goal of the initiative is to strengthen the role of federal government employees in supporting the volunteer work process, spread a culture of volunteerism in society, support the environment, and strengthen the UAE’s efforts to host COP28.

The Cabinet meeting reviewed a detailed study on the monthly income ceiling for applying for housing assistance and grants within the Sheikh Zayed Housing Scheme.

In addition, the UAE Cabinet reviewed the proposed requirements to support citizens with limited income who are not eligible for housing assistance loans.

In addition, the meeting ratified agreements with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of Tonga, as well as the UAE’s accession to the Beijing Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Relating to International Civil Aviation. year 2010.
