Emirates strengthens transcontinental business

Emirates has increased operations by 31% (total ASKM) since the start of the financial year and plans to further increase seat capacity in the newly published northern summer timetable, which began on March 26.

Over the past few months, the airline has planned and implemented rapid growth in its network operations – reintroducing service to 5 cities; launching flights to 1 new destination (Tel Aviv), on existing routes Added 251 weekly flights; Continued rollout of enhanced services in the air and on the ground.

Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Airline, said: “Emirates continues to expand its global network and deploy its capabilities to meet global travel demand. Our financial year started off relatively quiet as we postponed growth until the planned restoration of the northern runway in Dubai. The international airport was completed in June. From July 2022, it has been continuously expanded.”

He added: “Customer demand is very strong and our forward bookings are also strong. Emirates is working hard on several fronts – restoring operational capacity as quickly as possible while upgrading our fleet and product to ensure our customers always enjoy Emirates’ best experience. To date, our 4 A380s have been fully refurbished with new cabin interiors and premium economy seats, as our $2 billion cabin and service enhancement program picks up pace , more aircraft will be put into service.”

Over the next few months, established routes to Europe, Australia and Africa will be served by more Emirates flights, while in East Asia, more cities will be re-launched.

A380s to be deployed in the northern summer of 2023:
Emirates continues to expand its A380 operations, reintroducing the iconic double-decker across its network: Glasgow (from 26 March), Casablanca (from 15 April), Beijing (from 1 May), Shanghai ( From 4 June), Nice (from 1 June), Birmingham (from 1 July), Kuala Lumpur (from 1 August) and Taipei (from 1 August).

Upcoming route improvements by region:
Europe
• Amsterdam: 14 to 19 flights per week from 2 April.
• Athens: Daily seasonal service increased to meet summer demand from June 1st to September 30th.
• Bologna: From 5 weekly flights to daily flights starting May 1st.
• Budapest: From 5 flights per week until 1 June daily.
• London: 2nd daily service to London Stansted commencing 1 May. This will bring Emirates’ London operations to 11 flights per day – including six per day to London Heathrow and three per day to Gatwick.
• Venice: 5-6 weekly from March 26, increasing to daily from June 1.

Africa
• Cairo: Increase from 25 to 28 weekly flights by 29 October.
• Dar es Salaam: 5 weekly flights increased to daily flights from 1 May.
• Entebbe: increased from 6 flights per week to daily flights starting 1 July.

Australia and New Zealand
Emirates’ direct flights to Australia will return to pre-pandemic levels on May 1, with flights to Sydney on March 26 and Brisbane on June 1.

• Brisbane: Increased daily services from 1 June will see Emirates operate 14 weekly flights to Brisbane.
• Christchurch: Resuming daily services from Dubai via Sydney from 26 March.
• Melbourne: Added a third daily flight to Melbourne via Singapore from 26 March. This increased Melbourne’s capacity and re-established the link between Singapore and Melbourne. There are 2 additional flights daily from Melbourne direct to Dubai.
• Sydney: 3rd daily direct service added from 1 May.

East Asia
• Bangkok: A 5th daily service will be added from 1 August.
• Beijing: Daily non-stop Boeing 777-300ER service from March 15, upgrade to A380 from May 1. The second daily service will start on 1 September, using the A380.
• Hong Kong: Increase daily non-stop flights from 29 March. This increases Emirates’ operations to 14 weekly flights, including its existing daily Dubai-Bangkok-Hong Kong flight.
• Kuala Lumpur: A third daily service will be added from 1 June.
• Tokyo: Daily flight service to Haneda, Tokyo resumed on April 2. This brings Emirates’ Japan operations to 21 flights per day, including a daily A380 to Tokyo Narita and a daily Boeing 777 to Osaka. – trade arab news agency
